Vice President, ConsultingShane McCallan, Esq.

An attorney admitted to the State Bar of California, Shane joined Auto Advisory Services (AAS) in 2013 to help oversee the consulting and regulatory compliance operations. He is highly knowledgeable in all areas of federal and California law that relate to dealership operations. He received his B.A. and B.S. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Prior to joining AAS, Shane worked in the Automobile Dealer Practices Group of a California law firm that specializes in the representation of new motor vehicle, motorcycle and recreational vehicle dealers in litigation and transactional matters. His litigation and arbitration experience includes defending both individual and class consumer actions (Truth in Lending Law, Rees-Levering Act, Unfair Competition Law, Consumer Legal Remedies Act and Vehicle Code violations), franchise disputes and defending Americans With Disabilities Act, lemon law, personal injury, wrongful termination and labor law claims. Shane also successfully prosecuted cases on behalf of dealers and private individual clients. His transactional experience involves the analysis, negotiation and drafting of various contracts such as incorporation and partnership documents, real property purchase and sale agreements, asset purchase agreements, franchise agreements, lending and security agreements, reinsurance company formation proposals and a municipal disposition and development agreement.

Shane has authored articles on dealership legal issues that have been published in the San Diego Dealer and is a contributing author to Transmission (the AAS monthly newsletter). He is also a member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel.

Shane grew up in a dealer family, spending his summers working in various departments. His grandfather was a pioneering new motor vehicle dealer in Colorado and his father owns and operates dealerships in California. This background gives Shane legitimate insight into dealer issues and a real appreciation for the heavy legal burden that dealers face by doing business in California.
